Throw Blankets
Throw blankets got their name because they were typically thrown over a piece of furniture, such as the back of a chair or sofa. That way, the blanket was handily available whenever a person would sit down to read or relax. Smaller than a bed blanket, the throw could be wrapped around the shoulders or draped across the lap on cold, chilly days and nights.
The softest, most comfortable throw blankets are made from natural fibers, such as cotton. Synthetic fibers have a scratchy, itchy quality that makes them poor choices for utilitarian throws. However, synthetic fibers could be used for throw blankets that are hung on the wall as art. Because so many of these blankets have intricate, beautiful artwork woven into them, such as works by famous artists, many people collect them and prefer to display them as art. They can also be used as utilitarian art, if one is hung over a drafty doorway or window in the cold winter months.
Cotton Throw Blankets with Warren Kimble Artwork
The artwork of Warren Kimble is starting to appear on cozy fireside throw blankets. This is because throw blankets are looked upon as a charming relic of old-fashioned farm life, and Warren Kimble is famous for painting charming farm scenes. The two naturally go hand in hand. Madison & Bean, an internet gift retailer, carries a variety of items imprinted with Warren Kimble's artwork, including throw blankets, garden flags, home decoration items, pet accessories and a variety of wall art.
